nRadiance Nanosystems’s Versafilm is a proprietary thin, uniform, transparent film fabricated from single-walled carbon nanotubes. It has the potential to replace indium tin Oxide (ITO), a transparent conductor used ubiquitously in flat panel televisions, mobile phone displays, and solar cells. ITO is brittle and is made from expensive element Indium, which is projected to deplete in the next decade. On the contrary, Versafilm is flexible and is made from the abundant element carbon. In addition, it is transparent to Infra-red (IR) radiation while ITO is not; possibly increasing the effectiveness of solar cells. Other potential applications include flexible electronics and electrochromic glass windows.
